HEWSON, David Henry

On July 1, 2022 passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at the Home of Compassion, Silverstream; aged 87 years. Dearly loved and loving husband and soulmate of Virginia. Proud and loving father and father-in-law of Stephen & Andrea, Chris & Nichola. Proud and loving grandfather of Josh and Laura, Joseph and Zara. Special thanks to the staff at the Home of Compassion that cared for him. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Cnr Pine Avenue & Main Street, Upper Hutt, on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 11.00am, followed by private cremation. HARPER, Melvyn

From the Survey and Spatial Community (formerly NZ Institute of Surveyors). Our hearts go out to the family and close friends of Mel. He has been involved in the Surveying Community from 1960 and was a member of the NZIS since 1987. Mel was a gentleman with charming charisma, a warm cheeky smile and welcoming persona which brought him close to many people and community groups.
He will be sorely missed.


APPLEBY, Douglas

It is with deep sadness that Judith (de la Cour) wishes to make it known that her much loved and devoted husband passed away peacefully on June 29, 2022 at Christchurch Hospital, aged 93 years. Douglas was a loving father to Julian and his partner Caroline, (US) and Rebecca (Crete). A much loved Grandad of Lachie and Will, Adam and Tom. Cherished Uncle to Amanda and her husband Terence, Sarah and her husband Anthony, and their families (UK); A much respected gentleman and friend of Anne and her husband Dave, Paul and his wife Tracy. EWART, Warren James Robert

The Ewart family and extended family lost their mischievous family man Warren Ewart, also known as Wazza, who passed away on 28th June 2022. Warren was born in Wellington on 29th December 1958. Warren had a passion, hobby, and love for fast cars, American old school cars and boats. Warren made a living and provided for his family as a mechanic. Starting in New Zealand before endeavouring over to Australia to continue chasing his love for a bigger and better life for his children. Warren is at his home, 28b Burgess Road, Johnsonville until this Monday mid-morning. Family and friends will be holding a service at The Karori Small Chapel, 76 Old Karori Road, Karori, Wellington, on Monday 4 July, commencing at 1.00pm. Afterwards there will be a further invitation to the Island Bay Tavern, 134 The Parade, to celebrate Warren’s love for light refreshments. Warren was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Andrea Moss. Mothers of his children Kathleen McKeown and Fiona Siataga. His children Sian Ewart, Troy Ewart, Hayden Ewart; Step-children Corie Reid, Lyalle McKeown, Erana Harrison and Lucas Harrison; and many grandchildren.


BROWN, Sandra Kaye (Sandi)

Sandi died at her home while surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Aged 63 years. Dearly loved mother to Ryan, James and Gemma, a loved sister, aunty and friend, and a cherished nana to Thomas, Walter and baby on the way. CONNELL, Maurice

Born Temuka October 17, 1938, died Melbourne June 28, 2022. Adored son of the late Flora and Maurice Connell. Loved brother of Mary Annette Moran (Christchurch) and the late John Connell. Uncle of Tony, Linda, Bryan, George and Maria; A private ceremony to inter Maurice’s ashes will be held at Temuka cemetery.


MACKINNON, Marjorie May (Marjie)

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on June 28, 2022. Loved wife of Allie, best mum and mum-in-law of Doug, Pete and Sandra, Jo and Phil, and loved nana to Sam, Ellie, Kasey, Connor, David, and Charmaine.

ANDREW, Monica Mary (nee Reid)

Peacefully, at Resthaven Village, Gore, on Thursday, June 30, 2022, aged 82 years. Dearly loved and cherished wife of the late Gordon Stanley Andrew, loved mother and mother-in-law of the late Mark, Kelvin and Maryisa (Mataura), Brett Gordon (Gore), Glen and Becky Yeoman (Edendale), and a loved Nana of Kylie, Ricky, Christopher, Mathew; Jessie, Billy; and loved great-grandson Jax. Loved sister to David, the late Peter, and Michael. A service to celebrate Monica’s life will be held in Southern Funeral Home Chapel, 106 Hokonui Drive, Gore, on Wednesday, July 6, at 1.30pm, then leaving for Charlton Park Cemetery. ROBINSON, Anthony Walter (Tony)

Passed away unexpectedly in Christchurch Public Hospital, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, aged 75 years. Much loved husband, father and friend, he will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Robyn, and their children Emma, and Matthew, his son-in-law James and grandchildren Hannah, and Keiran (Australia). Valued team member and friend of all at BTW Company, tragically taken from us far too soon. Our thoughts are with Jess’s wife Briar, her brother Jacob (who is also part of the BTW Waikato team) and their families. Jess was a very popular and talented Engineer. She never held back from participating in social events and contributing to the spirit of our company.

A much loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Friend of many. Special thanks for the love and care of the staff at Thornleigh Park especially the Spencer Wing team. ROBINSON, Noleen Mary

Passed away peacefully at Burwood Hospital, Christchurch, on June 28, 2022, in her 84th year. Dearly loved wife and friend of the late Lyn, much loved mum and mother-in-law of James and Margaret (Kumara Junction), Graham and Carolyn (Rotorua), and Lynda and Ray Stuart (Christchurch), and a cherished Granny, Great-Granny, sister, sister-in-law, aunty, cousin and friend. Messages to 28 Damien Place, Bromley, Christchurch 8062. A Service to celebrate Noleen’s life will be held in the William Sampson Memorial Chapel, Tainui St, Greymouth, on Monday at 1.00pm. Noleen will then be laid to rest with Lyn at the Karoro Lawn Cemetery.


BLACKMORE, Peter Raymond

On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, died peacefully at Nelson Hospital. Treasured soulmate and husband of Jan and son-in-law of Dot. Cherished dad of Mikailah and Dan (Australia), and granddad of Freya, Salem, Maja and Emily. Much loved brother and brother-in-law of Diane (Christchurch) and the late Rob, Wendy and Tim (Nelson), and Ian and Jocelyn (Nelson). Fun-loving uncle and friend to all the family. Thanks for the special care from the wonderful staff in the COVID ward at Nelson Hospital, all staff who have cared for Pete over the years and Hospice nurses. Also grateful thanks to Pete’s heart donor family and staff involved in his transplant and ongoing care at Auckland DHB and Hearty Towers. At Pete’s request, a private cremation has been held. In Pete’s memory donations may be made to NZ Heart Foundation or Nelson Tasman Hospice.
