Of Newman, Eketahuna, on Monday 19 November 2018 (peacefully) at home, aged 98 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Basil. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Jim and Lynne, and Joan and Wayne Smith. Treasured Nana to Fiona, Megan, Rhonda, and Jason; and Tracey, Kylie, Amy, and Bradley, and her 8 great-grandchildren. BERENDT, Susan Erica (nee Mantell)

On 18 November 2018, after a long illness, at Arohauni Hospice, Palmerston North, with the love and support of her family. Aged 66 years. Loved wife of Howard. Dearly loved Mum and mother-in-law of Derek and Michelle, and Fiona and Rodney. Adored Nana of Damian, Jarod, Tegan, and Austin. A special thanks to Dr Isaacs and his "Angels", and to the staff
at Arohanui Hospice for their patience, empathy and professional care. In accordance with Susan’s wishes, a private cremation has been held.

McDONALD, Deirdre Lamont (formerly Rowell)

Passed away peacefully in Christchurch on November 15, 2018, aged 90 years. Daughter of Hector and Lorna McDonald, and sister of Gillian Fastier (nee McDonald). Devoted and beloved mother of David, Andrea (deceased), and Christopher, grandmother of Julia and Anna, and great-grandmother of Marcus. Deirdre was a cherished and loyal friend to many with a fun and generous spirit, and will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to thank the kind hearted and extremely professional staff of Anthony Wilding Retirement Village and also Fay who was Deirdre’s long term carer and beloved friend. A Private Cremation has taken place. Deirdre’s ashes will be repatriated to the British Isles where her ancestors hail from.

14 November 2018. Favourite daughter (as she would say) of Jason & Kerry, and much loved twin sister of India and little sister Krysta.
