On Friday, October 26, aged 74 years. Loved sister and sister-in-law of the late Tom and Elma Davidson (Invercargill), Robert Davidson and Ellen Miller (and the late Val) (Te Anau), George and Audrey Davidson (Invercargill), the late Ruth and Robin Singh (Invercargill), Philip and Pauline Davidson (Wanaka), Brent and Heather Davidson (Invercargill). Loved Aunty Helen of all her nieces and nephews and their families.

THORBURN, Donald Neil (Don)

Passed away after a courageous battle on Tuesday 13th November 2018, aged 92, at Arohanui Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Adored husband of Bev, treasured father and father-in-law of Jane and Chris. Cherished Grandad to Nathan and Lucinda (Cindy). Special thanks to Arohanui Hospice for all their care and support. At Don’s request a private service has been held.

MEEK, Andrew Parlane

Passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the Otago Community Hospice; aged 76 years, leaving behind his sister Everyl, loving wife Rosemary and their children; Phillip and wife Kelly, Sonya, Steven and wife Donna, their grandchildren Christopher and wife Laurie, Blair and Sydney, Toby and Rory, and their great-grandchildren Olivia and Isaac. A private cremation for Andrew has been held. A memorial service to celebrate Andrew’s life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2.00pm, in Knox Church, 449 George St, Dunedin.

On November 14, 2018, at George Manning Lifecare. Loved brother of the late Noel, Arnold and Leonard. Loved brother of Marie, and uncle of all his nieces and nephews. On November 6, 2018, at Hutt Hospital. Beloved member of the Sisters of Compassion for 56 years. Loved daughter of the late Gladys and George Backhurst. Loved sister and sister-in-law of John and Brenda. A Memorial Mass to be held at St Joseph’s Church, 1 Pine Ave, Upper Hutt, on Friday 23rd November, at 11.15am.

PHILLIPS, David Ashley

Acupuncturist and tree planter of Nelson, died peacefully in his home on the morning of Saturday, November 17, 2018, surrounded by family. His battle with cancer is now ended and he’s danced off on to his next adventure. David’s family will be hosting a memorial service for anyone who wishes to come at 2.00pm to 4.00pm on Saturday, November 24 at his home; 224 Maori Pa Road, Delaware Bay. Garden tours included.

Passed away peacefully on November 18, 2018, in his 78th year. Dearly loved dad of Deb, Kerry, Nick and Cate, and loved grandad of Kirsty, James and Danielle. A funeral service will be held at the Motueka Memorial RSA, 49 High Street, Motueka, on Wednesday, November 21, at 2.00pm.

TONKS, Betty Doreen (nee Claasen)

On 18 November 2018, passed away peacefully one week before her 87th birthday at Aparangi Care Unit,
Te Kauwhata. Dearly loved wife (Special Girl) of the late Trevor. Much loved mum and mother-in-law of Gordon and Debbie, Barbara and Daryl Choat, Ian and Gemma, Allan, and Peter. Cherished Gran and Great-Gran of her
11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family wish to thank the Staff at Aparangi and the local Doctors for their special care. A Service for Betty will be held at the St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Scott Rd, Te Kauwhata, on Friday, 23 November, at 1.00pm, to be followed by a graveside committal at the Te Awamutu Public Cemetery, Picquet Hill Rd, Te Awamutu, on Saturday 24 November at 10.30am. Donations, in Betty’s memory, for the Te Kauwhata Emergency Services would be appreciated, and can be posted to PO Box 55, Te Kauwhata, or left at the Service. Just a week before her 83rd birthday, peacefully at rest after a long struggle. Dearly loved wife of the late Ray and mother of Scott (Marina Allan), Susan (Phil Gardner), and Bruce (Sonya), treasured sister of Lynne (Peter Marshall) and Paddy (Ted Vytlacil), much loved Grandmother of Amber and Henri, Nicole and Travis and cared for by the kind and supportive staff of the Malvina Major Home to whom the family are extremely grateful. Jill was preceded in death by her dear daughter, Julie (1984) and loving husband, Ray (1999). Bryan was an honest and loyal family member and work colleague who will be missed by many. Recently of Waihi and formerly of Wellington. Loved mother to Jasmine, Aaron, Gemma and Merrick, Josh and Rau. loved grandmother to Trinity. Loved daughter of the late Margaret (Peg) and Frederick Holden, and loved sister of Kevin and John and their extended families. Margaret’s Requiem Mass was celebrated at St Joseph’s Church, Waihi, on November 15 and a Service of Thanksgiving has also been held at the Wellington Natural Cemetery, Makara, on November 16. Grateful thanks to the Waikato District Health Board, the Catholic Parish of Waihi, and to Philippa Ellard and her family for their care of Margaret. The family is very grateful for the messages of love and support.

Steve died at his home in Sandwich, Kent, United Kingdom,
on Thursday, November 15, 2018, aged 73. Son of the late Davina and Archie Whitehouse, and brother of Quentin. Much loved husband of Lynne, father of Sasha and Sam, stepfather of Alex and Daniel, brother-in-law of Cathy, and uncle of Sarah and Arran. Former husband of the late Sue Watt. Worked for the United Nations in New York, Cyprus and Sarajevo. An avid follower of the news who has now made the news. Steve’s funeral will be held in Sandwich.
