On September 13, 2021 at the Chatswood Rest Home. Dearly loved cherished and adored wife of Les, and dearly loved daughter of Vic and Pearl (dec). Much loved sister of Joanne, Nicola, Billy, Terry, Paul (dec), and Barry (dec). Sisters and brothers-in-law Diana, John, Adelene, Eric, Judy, Graham, Jenny and Brian. Much loved by all nieces and nephews. As per her wishes, a private cremation has been held. Donations to Nurse Maude in lieu of flowers.

MITCHELL, Joseph (Joe)

Of Avondale, Christchurch. Passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 97 years on August 29, 2021. Dearly loved husband of Iris. Much loved father to Karen and Ross. Cherished grandfather to Emily. Beloved father-in-law to Richard and Kirsty. A private memorial will be held by the family. Please no flowers, instead donations to the Christchurch City Mission would be appreciated.



On August 17, 2021, peacefully in Christchurch, aged 84 years. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Jill, much loved father and father-in-law of Gemma and Pete, and Aimee and Jono, loved Poppa to Harry and loved Poppy to Tommy and Jack. BOYCE, Helen Marjory Merle

On September 8, 2021, passed away peacefully at Christchurch Public Hospital, in her 84th year, with her family around her. Dearly loved wife of John (Roger), and much loved and adored mother and mother-in-law of Amanda and Alan, Graham and Amy, and Malcolm. Loved grandma of Jamie, Ricky and Tess, Michael, Anneke, and Olivia. At Helen’s request a private service has been held. FITZPATRICK, Eric Murray (Murray)

Passed peacefully at Maida Vale on Monday 13 September 2021, aged 95 years. Dearly beloved husband and soulmate of Aylwyn for the past 75 years. Adored father and father-in-law of Ruth and Bob Langlands, Gavin and Michele, Keith and Linda, Ross and Shona, and Mike and Wendy. Loved Grandad of Viv and Brett, Anita and Joe, Scott and Angela; Ben and Karen, Barney and Georgie, Toby and Dani, Dom and Faline; Kym; Tim and Charlotte, Sarah and Richard, and Amy. Dearly loved great-grandfather of Sheridan and Dan, Mathew, Dom, Vincent, Josephus, Cassandra, Connor, Blaine, Payton, Arnie, Oswald, Camryn, Mia, Asher, Ashleigh, Grace and great-great-grandfather of Ivor and Sage. Passed away peacefully on 13 September 2021, at Bob Scott Retirement Village, aged 83. Dearly loved wife of Trevor (deceased), much loved mother to Sue, Jan and Lesley, and cherished by their families. On the evening of 12th September, surrounded by her family we said goodbye to our beautiful Gran, the matriarch of our family. Loved so dearly by her late husband Bob, Robyn & Keith, Nathan & Ricki-Jane, Kimmarie, Pete, Oscar & Felix, Jane, Brendon, Billy & Jimmy, along with her extended family. At an amazing age of 95 years old she is now flying high in the arms of the angels. A massive thank you to Shona McFarlane for providing such loving care of Gran especially in the more recent, of her 22 years she spent living within the village.


MARTIN, Murray James

Passed peacefully with family by his side, at Cranford Hospice, Napier, on Friday, August 20, 2021; aged 88 years. Dearly loved husband to his late wife Beverly. Loved father of Stephanie, David, and Kara. Loved father-in-law of Keith, and Chubb. Adored Granddad of Jared, Paul, Aimy, Kelcy, Lilly, Dustin, Lisa, Josh, Shane, and Dania. Cherished GG to his 19 great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Murray’s life will be held at Aoraki Funeral Services Chapel, 11 John Street, Waimate, at 1.30pm on Saturday, September 25, 2021, followed by an afternoon tea.


JAMIESON, John Robert

Born Wellington, January 22nd, 1947. Passed away suddenly but peacefully on September 11th, 2021. Survived by Elva, loved wife of 53 years. Loved son and son-in-law of Betty and Wallis Jamieson, and Frank and Alma Legg (All Dec). Loved brother and brother-in-law of David and Josie (Perth), Anne and Glenn Baker (Whakatane), Paul and Moira (Wellington), Tony and Colleen Legg (Taupo), and Beverley Legg and Richard Whiteman (Toronto). Cherished Granddad to Jordan, Chloe, Molly, Finn and Ev and great-grandfather to Nate. Missed by former wife and good friend Marie.

GOODEVE, Robert (Bob)

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his two daughters, Deborah and Suzie and son, Nigel on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in his 85th year. Dearly loved husband of Diana, proud father and father-in-law of Deborah and Mark, Nigel and Jeanne, and Suzie and Bob, and the late Grant, and much loved Grandad of David and Carly. Due to current Covid restrictions, a private service will be held but the family will be having a memorial service once Covid levels lower to enable us to enjoy a much larger celebration of Bob’s large life. All will be very welcome to attend – details will be advised closer to the time.
