Promoted to Glory from Wellington Regional Hospital, 12 March, 2022. Aged 94. Dearly loved eldest daughter of the late Gough and Frances Rankin of Nelson. Loved and respected sister and sister-in-law of Muriel (Wellington, dec), Jim and Pat (Kumara, both dec), Steve (dec) and June (Whangarei), David and Esther (Auckland), Ruth (Christchurch), and Yusaf (dec). A very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews. A true friend to her wider family and the many who came to know her. Effie was a talented, innovative and practical nurse and midwife, who left the world a better place because she had passed through it. A private cremation has been held. A service to celebrate Effie’s life will be held in the Wellington South Citadel of The Salvation Army at 4 Normandy Street, Newtown, Wellington, on Thursday 19th May, at 1.00pm. Her ashes will be interred with her grandmother at Hawera Cemetery on Friday 20th May at 11.00am.
