Suddenly at home in Rangiora; aged 90 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Eric. Dearly loved mum of Denis, Graeme, Mel, Kaye, and Barry. Loved nana of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Recognition of Myrtle’s life will be held at Northbrook Chapel, Spark Lane (off Northbrook Rd), Rangiora, on Friday, June 5, at 2.00pm. Private cremation thereafter.


EDWARDS, Raymond William

Karoro Moetahuna (Ngãruahine, Tãngahoe, Te Arawa, Samoa) Passed away peacefully on Tuesday 2 June 2020 to join his tüpuna, the angels and saints, aged 84 years. Loving son of Ahipene William (Bill) Edwards and Margaret (Margie) (nee Boyer). Younger brother of Ainsley and loving cousin to Bill (Piwi) Hirama and all his cousins. Brother-in-law to the Harrison whãnau. Dearly loved husband of the late Rauna (nee Harrison). Loved father and father-in-law of Greg (Pihama) and Carol, the late William John, Ana and Brian, the late Simon and Maria, Maakere (Margaret), Patina, Will and Mihi, Hinerangi (Rachael) and Kiwa. Loved Koko of his 18 mokopuna and 3 mokopuna tuarua. A Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph’s Church, Hawera, this morning at 10.00am, Wednesday 3 June 2020, after which Ray will be taken to his beloved Oeo Pã for his tangihanga. A final Requiem Mass will be held at 10.00am on Friday 5 June 2020, followed by interment at the Oeo Pã urupã (cemetery). The service at Oeo will be live-streamed. Peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on 29 May 2020. Aged 70 years. Passed away peacefully in Kew Hospital, Invercargill. Much loved father, friend and Paha of 10 moko. Hendrix will be at 520 McAlaister Road, Sandstone, Riversdale, from Friday, May 29. The Tangi will be held there on Wednesday, June 3, at 1.00pm. The whãnau warmly welcome anyone who wishes to pay their respects. Hendrix’s final resting place will be at Charlton Cemetery in Gore. Hãkari will be held after the Tangi at 308 Blue Road, Sandstone, Riversdale.

KEVILLE, Christopher Paul

On Thursday, May 28, 2020 our lives changed forever. Chris passed away peacefully with Jude at his side. The world has lost a loving, intelligent, determined and giving man. Loving husband of Jude (Judy), father of Alana and Grandad of Connor and Wyatt. Loved brother of Sean and Margi, Mark and Anne-Marie and Cate and Dick Borgdorff. Respected brother-in-law of Ray and Karene Phillips and the late Tony and Russell. Sincere thanks to the amazing Oncology team.

GERBES, Andrew Robert

Aged 80 years, Andy passed away peacefully in his sleep on 29th May at Hawke’s Bay Hospital. Dearly loved father of Vicki, Wendy, Juliette and Jason, and grandfather of Jack and unborn granddaughter. Faithful brother to his two surviving sisters Irene and Betty, recently deceased brother Frank, and earlier deceased siblings. Andy will be remembered for his endless generosity, happy and loving nature, and distinctive cheekiness. As required during this time, a private ceremony will be held in Hastings to celebrate Andy’s life. He will be reunited with his beloved wife Juliette in Hastings Cemetery and will be sadly missed.


HUGHES, Margaret (nee Chellingworth)

Passed away peacefully at Harbourview Home on Friday, 29 May 2020, aged 89 years. Dearly loved wife to the late Roy. Much loved mother and mother-in-law to Paul and Jayne, Robert and Liz, Murray and Helen. Beloved grandma to Isabel; Jessica, Rosealie, Hannah; Oliver, Samantha, and Laurence. Loved great-grandma to Percy, Fred, and Charlie. Mother-in-law to Debbie. Loved sister to Edna (dec), John (dec), Beryl, and David. Thanks to the staff at Harbourview Home for their loving care of Margaret for the last 7 years. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held in the Ninness Funeral Home Chapel, 17 Kenepuru Drive, Porirua, on Thursday, 4 June commencing at 3.00pm. Thereafter a private cremation.

Passed away on Callaghans Track, Nelson Creek doing what he loved on May 29, 2020, aged 69. Dearly loved husband of Merrilyn, loved and respected dad and father-in-law of Andrew and Emily, Adam and Renee, and Hadley and Neelam, wonderful grandad and ‘pops’ of Oliver, Rosie, Chloe, Austin, Ariana, and Sofia, loved brother and brother-in-law of Graeme and Janice, Eion and Jo-anne, and the late Margaret, loved brother-in-law of Gaye and Richard Pringle, Adrienne and Alan McKnight, and Richard (deceased) and Robyn Berry, a loved uncle, cousin and a friend of many. PRESTON, John Joseph (Jack)

On May 30, 2020 peacefully at the St Joseph’s Home of Compassion, Silverstream, aged 94 years. Last orders were called, and John decided to call it a night. Dearly loved husband of the late Doris. Much loved Dad and father-in-law of Denise and Roy and loved and treasured Grumpa of Paul and Leanne, Gemma and Clinton, and Marc. Loved Great-Grandpa of Jackson and Parker. YNWA. After a short illness Lester slipped away peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Ascot Care Home on Saturday, May 30, 2020 – just short of his 80th birthday. Cherished son of the late Ted and Evelyn. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Alan and Maureen, Margaret* and Earle Hibbs, Jim* and Polly. Loved Uncle, Great-Uncle, and Great-Great-Uncle of all his nieces and nephews.
