Great save from Mauricio Rojas and other Arkles Bay residents who stopped a man from drowning.

Former professional Colombian goalkeeper Mauricio Rojas, now technical director at hibiscus Coast AFC, showed he is a star in the water as well as the football pitch when he battled strong currents to save a drowning swimmer on Monday.
Police say he and other residents likely saved the man from drowning after they heard screams coming from the Weiti River in the middle of the night.
Great to know the people from our community will pull out all the stops to help others!

In collaboration with Parakai Springs Swim School, we're embarking on another round of Whanau Nui, with five FREE lessons, for under-fives and 5-10 year-olds. Parents/caregivers must be in the pool, providing an ideal positive and safe learning environment for all.
