MEGANZ School of Visual Arts Term 2 Begins
Our Art Development courses are beginning again for Term 2 from Tuesday 3rd May for eight weeks.
We focus on a range of disciplines such as - Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, and Sculpture within these courses.
The term is broken into a combination of tutor and student-initiated sessions, whereby I do demonstrations and structured lessons for some of the time, and then I encourage students to follow what they would like to focus on. Within the class, each student is working on their own projects and working at their own pace and from their own level of ability. This I find is really beneficial in the fact students are more likely to compare their current work with their own past work and not against someone else's work in the class. They are on their own journey.
Classes are for ages 9 through to adults. Up to 8 students per class.
They are run from my home studio in Howick and they have been going since 2007.
I also like to help teenage art students with their College artboard work. I offer one-on-one lessons, group lessons, and casual lessons within the group class times.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
