Would you have known Porirua rents rose 14.5% over past year?
While Upper Hutt has seen the biggest year-on-year growth of 18.6 per cent to $415, followed by Kapiti Coast which was up 15.4 per cent to $450, Porirua rents have climbed 14.5 per cent to a weekly average of $500.
Landlords might blame the government's new rules about having to insulate rentals.
But whatever the reason, if a typical landlord knows they can charge more, then they probably will.
So is it all just a case of life goes on? Would you have known Porirua rents rose 14.5% over past year? Why?
