Porirua City Council has secured funding for a major public mural project in Porirua’s CBD.
Artists Miriama Grace Smith, Xoe Hall and Gina Kiel are using their acclaimed street art skills and their own rich Māori heritage to bring a vibrant female energy into the space. All three artists have distinct and colourful styles and unique points of view which promises to bring a fresh new energy to Ferry Place.
“The Ferry Place Murals project will be Porirua City’s first public art park and we are delighted that three well-known wāhine street artists will be transforming seven walls there,” says Robyn Steel, manager strategic partnerships.
“The murals are underway and will take about four weeks to transform this industrial-looking car park and service area to a 360-degree immersive art experience for all who enter it.”

Kia ora neighbours,

What do you think about the Snapper card extension to Wellington Train services?

Snapper will be rolled out on Wellington train services from October this year, ending over a century of paper ticket use.

The Johnsonville Line will be the first to trial the paperless system, with a full roll out dependent on the finalisation of commercial negotiations.

This is seen as a step towards Waka Kotahi's planned National Ticketing Solution, an initiative that would see all of New Zealand's public transport centralised on one payment system. It would let commuters pay for their journey through a credit/debit card, similar to London's Oyster Card, in use since 2011.

"Hi there my name is Vader aka Vaddie. I came into SPCA under unfortunate circumstances and have been under the care of the Veterinarian and Canine Team. I am now ready for my forever home.
It has taken a bit of time for me to come out of my shell and learn to trust people but once to do I am very loving and loyal. I would love quiet, predictable home with someone around for parts or all of the day as I am not comfortable with being left alone and thrive with company. I would love a home that enjoys going for walks and adventures but at the same understands that I am not always comfortable around the hustle and bustle of city life, I can be a very sensitive soul. I do however, have a playful side. I love playing with toys."
