Hi Neighbors - Newlands Community House has been operating for over 40 years, and this past year we struggled a lot with fundraising and missed out on quite a few grant applications. The house looks after members, supporting Independence with Dignity while they remain in their own homes for as long as possible. We also organise local activities for them to participate in and socialise so they are not on their own or alone. Some of the groups we have are Knitting, sewing, exercise classes, and they all come together on a Friday for a lunch prepared by some of our volunteers. We would really appreciate your support.

Featuring Te Reo Māori and English, the signs cost $27,360 to design, which included work by cultural advisors and bilingual experts.

Wendy Walker, Porirua City Council Chief Executive, says that "by bringing Māori language into our everyday lives, we help those less familiar with it gain confidence, as well as recognising those who already speak Te Reo."

What do you think about this? Do you think the bilingual signage is a worthwhile investment? Read more here

We have been helping vulnerable Wellington families for the past 13 years but have recently lost our auditor. Our accounts are on the Xero accounting system so it is a pretty simple job but unfortunately we are unable to afford to pay someone to do this. We would be so grateful if you or someone you know could urgently get in touch and help us out!!! Thanks heaps for reading this message! 😁😁
