Changes to landfill drop off - Waste Bylaw

Simone Borgstede from Wellington City Council

A recent recycling survey showed that 93% of Wellingtonians recycle, and 87% believe it’s worth taking the time to do it properly. With that in mind, we’ve made some changes to help Wellingtonians recycle right when they visit the Southern Landfill.

As part of our new Waste Bylaw, these items are no longer accepted in the landfill. Instead you can drop them off at the recycling and composting services on site:

♻️ Green waste
♻️ Electronic waste
♻️ Recyclable paper and cardboard
♻️ Glass bottles and jars
♻️ Steel and aluminium cans
♻️ Tyres
