NZTA have shared a wind warning for Auckland Harbour Bridge for today.

What you need to know:
- Between 4pm today and 8pm today, there is the potential for wind gusts on the Auckland Harbour Bridge to reach 90 – 100 km/h. While these are expected to be brief, they could trigger a red alert.
- Under a red alert, NZTA may close all lanes on the bridge as it is unsafe for any vehicle to be on the bridge and the bridge structure is vulnerable to vehicle impacts.
- From 8pm to midnight tonight an amber alert will remain in place with forecast wind gusts of 75-85 km/h. Under an amber alert, speed limits may be reduced and some lanes on the bridge may close.
- Drivers of high sided vehicles and motorcyclists are advised to avoid the Auckland Harbour Bridge and use the western ring route on State Highways 16 and 18.

NZTA say 'We don’t take the decision to lower speeds, close lanes or close the bridge lightly. Our priority is the safety of road users and the bridge structure.'

For up-to-date information about any restrictions on the bridge, please look out for the electronic message boards which indicate lane closures and reduced speeds and you can find more info here:

We had such an amazing time at the Welcome Day at Botany Library this past Sunday! 👋 It was a fantastic event filled with community spirit, and we loved connecting with so many library patrons.

Sharing a table with U3A at the library entrance was a great opportunity to meet fellow community organisations and chat with interested attendees. A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers Tina, Lin, Rachel (not pictured) and Cat for dedicating their time to promote our Citizens Advice Bureau. We are so grateful for your hard work and enthusiasm! 🙏

Safer Online Banking in New Zealand: What You Need to Know 💰

Great news for online banking users in New Zealand! Banks are now required to use the Confirmation of Payee (CoP) system. This new feature significantly enhances security by making it easier to verify payment details, helping you avoid accidentally paying the wrong person or falling victim to a scam.

What if You Accidentally Pay the Wrong Account?
Even with enhanced security, mistakes can happen. If you accidentally transfer money to the wrong account, here's what you should do:

👉 Act Immediately: Contact your bank as soon as you realise the error.
👉 Bank's Role: Banks' ability to reverse payments varies. In most cases, they'll need permission from the recipient to retrieve your money. If consent is given, your funds will be returned.
👉 No Consent? Next Steps: If the bank can't get consent to reverse the transaction, you might need to escalate. For claims up to $30,000, the Disputes Tribunal is your next step. For amounts over $30,000, you'll need to make a claim at the District Court.
👉 Invalid Account Numbers: If you type in an invalid account number, your bank should be able to reverse the transaction, and you typically get your money back within a few business days.
👉 Fees Apply: Be aware that your bank will likely charge a fee for their payment retrieval or credit recovery service, even if they're unable to get your money back.

This new CoP system is a welcome step towards greater financial security for everyone in New Zealand. Stay vigilant and know your rights!
