Autumn Family Fun at the Village! Come along to our school holiday event running from 18th April - 30th April!

Experience Autumn at the village! Try our outdoor discovery trail and learn about some of the trees in the gardens that have recently lost their leaves in activities and crafts. The following activities are also on the programme:

· Feed the Chooks: everyday at 10:45am

· Butter Making: Tuesdays 19 & 26 April and Fridays 22 & 29 April 10:30-3pm

· Acorn crafts: Saturdays and Sundays at 11am-12:30.

With plenty of room for distancing in the outdoor setting, bring a picnic or pick-up something from the Homestead Café and make a day of it! Explore the heritage buildings and learn about the lives of early Auckland settlers.

Admission: adult $16, child $8, child under 5 free, senior/student $12, family $40. No bookings required!

Come on down to Howick Historical Village for our fun-filled Easter Extravaganza! Watch the village come to life as we celebrate Easter with lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Take a photo with the Easter Bunny and grab some gelato while you complete our Easter Trail that ends with a chocolate prize! There’s plenty to do with arts and crafts, butter-making, face painting, outdoor games, rag-rugging, East Egg Hunts and much more!

Visit our Lolly Shop, or see our printing press in action - with something new to do around every corner.


Two session times available:
Session One: 10am-12:30pm

Session Two: 1pm-3:30pm

Each session is limited to 100 persons in compliance with Red Light Setting Guidelines. Please remember to bring your mask, and have your vaccination passes ready upon entry.

With plenty of room for distancing in the idyllic outdoor setting, make a day of it. Bring a picnic or pick-up something from the Homestead Café. Explore the heritage buildings and learn about the lives of early Auckland settlers.

There was always work to be done! Help the Villagers with their chores at the following times in February :

· Feed the Chooks 10:45

· Butter making Wednesdays 11am

· Wash Day Sundays 11am


With outdoor games and crafts everyday!

Permanent Full Time — 35 hours/week. Salary: $25/hr depending on experience.


This is a varied role that may see you working with our heritage buildings one day and assisting in our gardens the next day. You will be responsible for everyday repairs and managing external contractors in conjunction with the Facilities Manager.



About you:

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.

• Experience with principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly regarding Māori culture and heritage.

• Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.

• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, basic gardening, and mechanical systems is desirable.

• Interest in the Cultural Heritage Sector.

• Valid NZ Driver’s Licence.



Skills and Abilities:

• Good time management skills.

• Can lift 20 kgs.

• Proactive attitude.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Able to work within a small team as well as on own initiative.



This is a hands-on position so you will need to be physically fit. You must be eligible to work in New Zealand for this role.

Enjoy an evening of live jazz, food and wine in the gardens of Howick Historical Village. Enjoy two live performances from Napoli Central and the Jenny B Band.

Jenny Bersola was born in Italy and is a star of recording and TV as well as live shows. Her background as a singer and performer includes international recordings and awards, and live concerts in a wide range of music. She was the voice on the international dance hit ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ by Corona, and her voice has been remixed by Black-Eyed Peas on ‘Ritmo’, which features on the soundtrack of the movie ‘Bad Boys For Life’ starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

She has toured Italy with Maceo Parker, is a regular performer in Japan and is a big hit at the Auckland Jazz and Blues Club.
