Are you energetic and social?

Ainsley Darvell from Flying Kites - East Auckland

Do people describe you as responsible and full of energy?
Do you love social interaction and creativity?
Are you looking for part time work that is fun and meaningful?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, fun and engaging person to help out 12 hours per week in East Auckland. If you are a strong communicator who is looking for long term and meaningful work this could be the solution you are looking for. A 9 year old boy with autism is looking for a companion to share some fun adventures with throughout his week.

Your time will be split between heading out to the local pools or parks and staying home to practice literacy skills or participate around the house. This is a great opportunity if you have an interest in teaching, nursing or social services. It would be amazing if you have experience with kids or people with autism, but this is not essential.

You need a full drivers licence and a car for this role. You would work two afternoons per week (3pm – 7pm) and one negotiable shift in the weekend (4 hours long). We are really happy to adjust the days and hours to work around your commitments, as long as you are reliable.

Your calm personality, ability to build a strong connection with others and general positive spirit will be a great asset to this role. If you are interested please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message.

Flying Kites helps people with disabilities find amazing people to support them to live their lives and achieve their dreams. #FlyingkitesNZ

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
