DOG OWNER PURPOSELY ALLOWING HIS DOG TO ATTACK THE WILDLIFE.

Marie from Howick

I was at a local walkway / pond in Botany this morning and I suddenly heard a loud commotion of birds I could tell something was wrong because of the they were going off so frantically.
I ran to see what was wrong, as I turned the corner I seen a man with his dog, his dog on leash, leash in his hand and he was allowing his dog to attack / torment these poor birds who were so desperately trying to protect their babies.
Until he seen me that is. I told him that he is not allowed to let his dog attack these birds, they have babies, you are a visitor here and that I would report him.

This is what really got me, when I said to him " you cant let your dog attack the birds" he replies with, WHERES THE SIGN?. Are you ...... kidding me.

So apparently we need a sign to tell us that its not appropriate to let your dog attack the wildlife.....this is common sense to most.
Its a worry if he encourages his dog to attack birds its obviously not just bad for the birds as these are bad behaviors to encourage in any dog, what else could his dog attack.
He is a regular visitor to the park and that is what concerns me.
If you live in the surrounding area or happen to be walking in the area please keep your ears open and your eyes out.
It is a privilege to have access to these walkways and we do not want idiots like this ruining it for the rest of us and our dogs.

Superb Kiwi album features on East FM, Saturday arvo

Phil from Farm Cove

Being another beautiful hot day in Auckland, the 22-1-22, it’s appropriate we celebrate one of Aotearoa NZ’s great earthly albums of last year on this arvo’s She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, 3-7pm (NZ time) on East FM.
Troy Kingi is a very cool and talented actor, songwriter and musician, and his 2021 album Black Sea Golden Ladder is outstanding, produced by the master Delaney Davidson and features a stellar cast of players. Troy’s plan has been to produce 10 albums in 10 years, one a year in a different genre and this is the folk work, though it encompasses many other superb musical elements.
Black Sea Golden Ladder will be spun in entirety from 5pm, and we’ll also remember stars of the music world who have passed recently, including Ronnie Spector (Ronettes), Mike Nesmith (Monkees) and Meatloaf.
We’ll also take our usual tour of other musical neighbourhoods on the She’ll Be Right Show with PJ on East FM, East Auckland’s legendary community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally on www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.
The She’ll Be Right Show – it’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. Kia kaha. – PJ

Neighbor behaving badly !

Marie from Howick

So today my neighbor plowed in reverse through the fence in between our properties narrowly missing my daughters car, to my disbelief he then checks the back of his car for damage and just drives off and goes about his business leaving the broken fencing panels across our driveway blocking our cars in.
He does return a short time later, but no acknowledgement of the destruction he has just caused, no apology, no attempt to rectify the situation in anyway, just ignoring the fact and walking away.
So I asked him so what are you doing about the fencing his reply was "well its rotten anyway". ( rotten or not WTF... )
I said to him you will need to make arrangements to have the fencing moved as it is blocking our driveway / car, his reply was telling me
"well you FN move it then", both rude and uncalled for.
Not very neighborly thats for sure.
Sadly I ended up having to get my son to help me lift the pieces back over, a bit of a struggle but we got there.
I did notify the police and the landlord.
