Were you there? 1960s photo of Auckland Star employees restored

Ripu Bhatia Reporter from Auckland Stuff

A photograph capturing the staff at the Auckland Star in the 1960s has been discovered and restored.

Tony Lawson, 85, received the photograph from his friend Don Armitage, whose father Jack is pictured in the photograph.

“The photo came to me in a very poor condition,” he said.

“However, my youngest daughter's close friend who is a graphic artist has done a few hours work on this and has come up with an amazing improvement.”

Lawson started working for the Auckland Star in 1964.

“In those days it was hot metal, as they called it, a line of type writers going like the clappers,” he said.

“The noise was something, it’s a wonder we’re all not stone bloody deaf. It was 1976 they were all gearing up to go into the computers.”

He estimates the photograph was taken in the 1960s.

DOG OWNER PURPOSELY ALLOWING HIS DOG TO ATTACK THE WILDLIFE.

Marie from Howick

I was at a local walkway / pond in Botany this morning and I suddenly heard a loud commotion of birds I could tell something was wrong because of the they were going off so frantically.
I ran to see what was wrong and as I turned the corner I seen a man with his dog, his dog on leash, leash in his hand and he was allowing his dog to attack / torment these poor birds, until he seen me.
To be honest I was so shocked that someone would purposely allow this anyway, I told him that he is not allowed to let his dog attack these birds, they have babies, you are a visitor here and that I would report him.

This is what really got me, when I said to him " you cant let your dog attack the birds" he replies with, WHERES THE SIGN?.

So apparently we need a sign to tell us that its not appropriate to let your dog attack the wildlife.....this is common sense to most.

Its a worry if he encourages his dog to attack birds its obviously not just bad for the birds as these are bad behaviors to encourage in any dog, what else could his dog attack.
He is a regular visitor to the park and thats what concerns me.
