Sending Love Christmas Cards for the Elderly

Lindsay Upton from Manukau East Council of Social Services (MECOSS)

Christmas may be weeks away, but it’s not too early to start thinking about the numerous elderly folk who may find themselves alone this festive season.
MECOSS is putting out a call to the east Auckland community, for contributions of Christmas cards penned with hand written messages.
A collection drop-box will be set up in the foyer of the All Saints’ Community Centre, 30 Cook Street, Howick, every day between 8:00am and 4:00pm from Monday 5 November until Friday 7 December.
Then before Christmas, the 'Sending Love' charity will distribute the cards you've crafted, to people in our community who’re elderly and living alone, or who're confined to an age-care facility.

Does Auckland need a ban on begging?

Georgia Reporter from Stuff

Hi neighbours,

Is begging an issue in your Auckland community? Rough sleeping and begging within five metres of retail buildings in Tauranga has been banned after a controversial bylaw was passed. But it's got people wondering - could it work in Auckland too? To read more about this, click here.

Do you think a ban would make a difference here or is it a terrible idea? What other options could be looked into? Are you a business owner or customer with thoughts on the topic? Share your views and suggestions with us in the replies below!
