Blues Brothers save the day on East FM, Saturday arvo

Phil from Farm Cove

We’re on a mission from God, and in troubled times such as these we need a hero or two such as Jake and Elwood Blues to sort out the mess, so it’s to the legendary Blues Brothers we turn to on tomorrow’s She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, 3-7pm (NZ time) on East FM.
To divert minds away from more serious issues for a few hours, it’s time we dug out the nugget that is the Original Soundtrack Recording for The Blues Brothers movie, which is a middle-aged 42 years old this year.
We’ll spin the vinyl gem in entirety at 5pm, and other records have been pulled as we’ll also take our usual tour of all the music neighbourhoods on The She’ll Be Right Show with PJ, booming out of East FM, East Auckland’s vibrant community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally at www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.
It’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. – PJ… She caught the Katy and left me a mule to ride...

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
