Superb Kiwi album features on East FM, Saturday arvo
Being another beautiful hot day in Auckland, the 22-1-22, it’s appropriate we celebrate one of Aotearoa NZ’s great earthly albums of last year on this arvo’s She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, 3-7pm (NZ time) on East FM.
Troy Kingi is a very cool and talented actor, songwriter and musician, and his 2021 album Black Sea Golden Ladder is outstanding, produced by the master Delaney Davidson and features a stellar cast of players. Troy’s plan has been to produce 10 albums in 10 years, one a year in a different genre and this is the folk work, though it encompasses many other superb musical elements.
Black Sea Golden Ladder will be spun in entirety from 5pm, and we’ll also remember stars of the music world who have passed recently, including Ronnie Spector (Ronettes), Mike Nesmith (Monkees) and Meatloaf.
We’ll also take our usual tour of other musical neighbourhoods on the She’ll Be Right Show with PJ on East FM, East Auckland’s legendary community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally on www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.
The She’ll Be Right Show – it’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. Kia kaha. – PJ

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
