Water Wasteage
I see with my Rates Demand from WCC that there is a notice from Wellington Water telling me that garden watering restrictions are now in place. I am somewhat surprised that I should have to conserve water when there is a water leak in our street from a fire hydrant that flows 24/7. I advised Council of this leak in early September and received the acknowledgements etc and advised me to tell them if it got any worse. I did this a couple of weeks later - and still got another acknowledgement notice from WCC and Wellington Water - BUT no fix. I do wonder just how many other water leaks there are around our City that need a fix. Will we have to wait for the new Government 3 Waters to do this work? A lot of water wasted before then.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
