Bee poisonings evoke community action
East Auckland residents are seeking a change in age-old gardening habits and imploring locals to reject chemical spraying, after the Eastern Courier reported on the death of several backyard bee colonies earlier this year.
Around 200,000 bees, from hives in Howick and Botany, met an untimely death that's suspected to be attributed to the spraying of herbicides and insecticides.
