Annual march reminisces police tradition
Counties Manukau Police will be putting their best foot forward in Howick next Friday for the annual district Pay Parade and Awards Ceremony.
Area commander Inspector Wendy Spiller says the tradition dates back to the late 1800s when police officers had to march in full uniform to the local magistrate's office every fortnight to get their pay packet.
