CHANGES TO DOG ACCESS RULES: WHAT IS AND ISN'T TRUE
We have to comment on the article written by Marianne Kelly | Monday, 19 September 2016 titled CHANGES TO DOG ACCESS RULES: WHAT IS AND ISN'T TRUE
The article missed a key point and that is that the changes to Howick's Dog Access Rules do not come into effect until 1st July 2017.
The result of this lack of detail is that some dog owners are having their dogs on the beach after 9am contrary to the existing Dog Access rules. The change to the Dog Access rules allowing dogs on the beach up to 10am in Summer does not come into effect until next Summer.
We have brought this to the attention of both the Howick Local Board and the Howick Pakuranga Times asking that clarification/correction is made to their previously published article. This misperception is causing friction on a daily basis.
