Great Community Clean Up
Everything you need to know...
What is the Great Community Clean-up all about?
It is about volunteering a little of your time to clean-up public places in your neighbourhood. The Great Community Clean Up is a chance to show your community a little love - and to win great prizes.
So what do I actually have to do?
You don’t have to do anything big; picking up a little litter in your street, tidying up your favourite park, or removing bits and bobs from a nearby beach are all great ways to clean-up!
How long will it take?
As long as you want, is entirely up to you and your crew. Even half an hour can make a world of difference.
Who can join me?
Whomever you want, so grab your flatmates, your kids, your neighbour/s or your whole street.
When is it happening?
Any time is a great time to take ownership of cleaning up your neighbourhood, but The Great Community Clean Up is taking place between 3-9 October. You pick the date and time! Don’t forget to register your event to be in with a chance to win.
Where do I have to clean up?
Any public area in your neighbourhood that needs a bit of love! Not sure if an area is public? Contact your local council.
Where can I get the clean-up supplies I need?
Each team will be sent a bag of vital clean-up supplies like rubbish bags, gloves, and hand sanitizer. We’ll be sending out packs from September 19-30; if you register after September 30 we will try our best to send you a pack but we can’t promise it will arrive in time for your event.
What are the prizes and how do I win?
There are 12 prizes of $100 The Warehouse vouchers - plus five $50 vouchers for the Great Little Kiwi Clean Up Stars - members of your crew under the age of 13 who get into the spirit and help make a difference in their community.
Why are The Warehouse and Neighbourly hosting the Great Community Clean-up?
We are part of the neighbourhood just like you, and we want to see it clean just like you too.
We’re doing something extra special…
Neighbourly and The Warehouse want to hear all about your event! We might even put you in touch with your local paper so they can head along and show the community what you’re up to! You can send details direct to firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure you take plenty of photos of your Clean Up too - we’d love to see them!

Info for The Warehouse team members
Am I paid for the clean-up?
No, we are asking you to volunteer your time. To thank you for your time, for each team involved there will be $10 towards a celebration at the end of the clean-up. You choose how you want to celebrate.
Can I bring my family along?
Definitely, the more the merrier. Please note: the $10 is only available to The Warehouse staff members.
Why do I have to register on Neighbourly?
Neighbourly is providing all the online smarts for registering and tracking teams, so you need to register with them first if you’re not already a member. Neighbourly asks for your driver’s license number, this is to verify who you are – they don’t use this information for anything else. There are also options available for you if you don’t have a driver’s license which you’ll see when you sign up.
Who needs to register for the store?
Just the one person who is organising the clean-up. This person will then be sent more information.
Will we be sent things like rubbish bags, gloves etc?
No you won’t, but we will give each store $10 to cover these costs.
Do I have to wear my Reds for the clean-up?
Yes please, it reminds the community that we are supporting their neighbourhood a little love! Remember to take plenty of photos!
What are the prizes?
There is $2,000 worth of prizes to be won for the top stores.
What's up for grabs?
By registering a Great Community Clean Up Event, you're in the draw to win one of ten $100 Gift Cards from The Warehouse.
Plus we've got five $50 The Warehouse Gift card spot prizes for Little Kiwi Clean Up Stars - those aged 13 and under who get involved in a Great Community Clean Up event in their neighbourhood.
Lastly - tell us how your Great Community Clean Up event went and we'll put you in the draw to win one of two $100 The Warehouse Gift Cards.
Ideas for Clean Ups...
A Great Community Clean Up doesn't need to be a huge event. Just grabbing a rubbish bag and heading to a local park is good enough and can make all the difference to your neighourhood.
Consider cleaning up:
a local park
a nearby beach
your street or street's nearby
a stream or pond
