I'm going to be running an adult stencil art class called "Wine, Cheese and Stencils" on Saturday 17th August, 10am - 3pm at The Barn Studio, Wainui, if you'd like to have a go. Learn to cut and spray your own layered stencils using spray paint or acrylic, and then complete a beautiful stenciled canvas to take home. Hundreds of thousands of inexpensive items that pass through the retail giant's checkouts every year, so it's only to be expected there will be recalls – Kmart even has a recalls page on its website, and there are 31 products on the list.
The $55 timber Occasional Chair is the latest casualty, although this is a withdrawal rather than a recall. We don't know the reason for its withdrawal, except Kmart says it is for "a potential quality issue". But what other products have been found wanting?

A truck that decided to overtake a truck-and-trailer unit on a hill on SH1 south of Warkworth narrowly missed colliding with a bus on Monday afternoon. A woman can be heard in video footage of the dangerous manoeuvre saying: "They're going to do a head-on." The offending truck cut off the truck-and-trailer, causing the driver to break so hard the vehicle stalled, causing delays for those caught behind. There was a passing lane less than 400m after where the incident took place.
