Full fares will return across the region on July 1 now that New Zealand has moved to alert level 1 and physical distancing restrictions have been lifted.

Fares, including the handling of cash, were temporarily suspended to support the Government’s public health response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Metlink has been working very closely with the Government on the safest and fairest time to reintroduce full fares to passengers across the region.

Advice from the Ministry of Health has confirmed it is safe to handle cash, provided this is done responsibly. Good hand hygiene remains essential, with passengers and staff continuing to wash or sanitise their hands as soon as they can during, before and after travel. To learn more, read the full release on our website below.

Trees That Count runs the country’s only marketplace which provides a place for anyone to fund or gift native trees. This support is matched with planters throughout the country who are restoring, and growing, precious wildlife corridors or pockets of native forest, turning small projects into mighty ones.
