The Linden Bridge was reopened yesterday after detailed investigations confirmed it could be kept open while further strengthening is undertaken.

Since Christmas, Greater Wellington Regional Council engineers have been investigating the strength of the bridge, as well as ground conditions.

Due to the nature of the investigation and the timeframes required to process permits and find appropriate times to enter the live rail corridor, it has taken several months to be able to gather this information safely.

Yesterday Greater Wellington received a report saying the bridge was safe to be reopened to the public, however additional strengthening efforts will be ongoing. It is expected the bridge can remain open through the majority of these works.

Greater Wellington thanks the pubic for their patience while the bridge was closed.

"Peter" rabbit and "Pickles" the guinea pig, unfortunately, need a new home. They come with everything I have for them, including one medium hutch, one large hutch, 10kg worth of rabbit museli, a new small bale of hay, and a few other bits and bobs.

Metal chicken wire and the metal playpen are also available if wanted.
I have had them free range with free access to their hutches.
They have great temperaments, they were great with my 2yo daughter, they have never bitten. Giving away as I now study full time and no longer have the time to care for them.

This crew gave up their weekend, working throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday to repair these bursts as quickly as possible. Given the location, this repair was made a little more difficult than usual, so we’d like to thank the residents of Wilton for their patience and understanding throughout the weekend.

Another thanks to the guys out in the field who got these bursts sorted, and also to Wellington City Council for keeping residents updated on social media.
