Eid Day Wellington, This Weekend!

Ok, Good People! There will be a big festivity happening at Te Rauparaha in Porirua for Eid this weekend to mark the end of Ramadhan fasting month. Fun, Food & Games at this Free Event. Opened to all, so? Bring the kids to enjoy a cultural experience! We'll be having an inside stall (think Rendang with bread, our famous cinnamon rolls & donuts, Pizzapuffs, Apple Pie & Lychee Bubbleteas). EFTPOS Available. The only catch is that Eid is confirmed only after moonsighting on Friday 21 Apr. Therefore, watch this space for confirmation as to whether this event is Saturday OR Sunday! Either way, it's 9.30am -3.30pm. See you there.

Poll: Should we be giving the green light to new mining projects? 💰🌲

The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.

We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?
