My Nice Neighbour nomination

Natalie from Johnsonville

On Thursday 4th April, there was a serious crash outside Malvina Major on Burma Road. One car was a write off and two others impacted. Two people were taken to hospital. After all the crash vehicles had left, it was evident that one Garden Road flower Box on Bonnie's Burm was smashed. and 2 others had been shunted out of place.
This was upsetting for Malvina's garden lady who was indisposed and couldn't walk at the time. While mulling over the best course of action, early on Sunday morning she heard banging. Looking out she saw a man dealing to the boxes. She called out and asked what he was doing. He said he was doing it for the lady who grew flowers and that he was a qualified builder. He liked watching the flowers grow as he passed in his truck.
Well, I can tell you that he did a magnificent job with his own wood and time. You would be hard put to know now which box had been smashed. What an amazing man with a strong community heart thinking of the good of others.
If this brought a tear to your eye I can tell you it did mine.
Congratulations and a huge thank you to Brad Croft of Broadmeadows.
You have a huge community heart and we are all in your debt.

Poll: Would you want an unconventional funeral?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Funerals can cost as much as $22,000 and the planning can be stressful especially at a time when loved ones are grieving. Some New Zealanders are re-imagining funerals by making their own coffin or having a relaxed ceremony at home. Would you want a less traditional funeral? Share your thoughts below.

Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.
