Pea Straw Fundraiser Brooklyn Scouts

David from Mornington

Pea Straw Bales For Sale - Last chance!!

Add some goodness to your garden

• Enrich your soil – pea straw is nutrient rich and high in nitrogen.

• Great as a mulch to suppress weeds and preserve soil moisture.

• Sourced from a Kimbolton farm in the weevil-free Manawatu.

• Quick and easy to lay – spread to a depth of 5cm. One bale will cover about 8 square metres.

Costs
2 bales for $50.00 (much cheaper than bagged pea straw!)
4 bales for $90.00 (additional bales $20.00 each)

• Pick-up from the Scout Hall (dates and times to be advised)
• Delivery to Brooklyn and Mt Cook: $4 for orders of 4 bales or less, free for 5 or more
• Delivery to neighbouring suburbs for large orders may be available for a fee

To order, email your contact details to peastraw@brooklynscouts.org.nz

We’ll reply with payment details and pick-up or delivery options.

What’s pea straw? It’s the dried leaves and stems of pea plants, left after the pea pods have been harvested. The bales are 1m x 0.4m x 0.36m in size and weigh 15kg

A Brooklyn Scouts fundraiser to help our Scouts.

Thanks,
Brooklyn Scouts

Merry Christmas -

I have around twenty, empty 10-liter distilled water bottles to serve as emergency water storage. I saved them for my friends, but they already have their own water supplies. Take as many as you like. Please respond to this notice if you are interested.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
