Rainbow kerfuffle
What a kerfuffle! Two mayors, a city councillor, and council management have been involved in a scrap over three bollards painted in rainbow colours.
The saga began in May 2019, when Mary Clark and her husband painted a Breaker Bay bollard in rainbow colours.
But then, out of the blue, a Wellington City Council contractor arrived and water blasted them back to wood, starting an email trail between Clark’s husband, the council, and eventually mayors and councillors.
Eventually new mayor Andy Foster said he liked the bollards and permission has been granted to repaint them.
FREE 10-liter emergency water bottles
Merry Christmas -
I have around twenty, empty 10-liter distilled water bottles to serve as emergency water storage. I saved them for my friends, but they already have their own water supplies. Take as many as you like. Please respond to this notice if you are interested.
Best wishes - Michael
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
