Bell's Track Working group.
Attached is our February update.
We are a group vouluntry restoring the native flora to the Awarua valley area and can always do with more help.
We meet every Tuesday 11 am at Awarua Street Station and improve that area into Cummings Park and each month on the first Sunday of the month we meet at 10.30 am and of Awarua Street Ngaio. This time of the year we are mostly weeding in preperation for planting in winter as we have over 400 plants on order. Garden gloves essential tools can be provided but if you have loppers or pruning saw would help.
You may be interested to know according to Dr Philip Hulme our top botanist that the exotic plants that have gone wild are a bigger threat to our environment then the pest animals imported into Aotearoa.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
