ALERT *******Phone /computer scam*******
I have received two phone scam attacks in 2 days on my landline. The caller tells me they are from spark and they can see a problem with my router. I have worked in IT and knew it was a scam. The first day I was busy and told them to bugger off in no uncertain terms. I was surprised to get another call the next day. This time I strung them along a bit to see what they would try to get me to do. The first caller passed me over to the "senior technician", who sounded like they were in a different call centre, possibly overseas. He told me to go to the website for teamveiwer.com and then download the software. While this appears to be a legitimate site, I knew that the caller could use this software to gain access to my computer. At this point I told them that I Knew that it was a scam and they hung up. Please don't get caught out, this is a well known type of scam. If in dought hang up and ring spark. Early Merry Christmas all.
