In a grass clearing overlooking Wellington a memorial in the form of three steel chairs has been installed.

Unlike a typical memorial consisting of a park bench and a plaque with an idyllic view of the city, the chairs engage in simple object theatre, designer Matthijs Siljee said.
“If new visitors were to walk up the path and their eye level comes level with the grass, they will all of a sudden think ‘hey someone has left some chairs behind.' It is in that unassuming way that the memorial will introduce itself to the visitors,” Siljee said.
Located in Ellice Park in Mt Victoria, the memorial is the first of its kind in New Zealand, commemorating Anne Frank and the 1.5 million children who were killed during the holocaust.
The layout represents discrimination and prejudice, the chairman of Anne Frank Projects and the driver behind the project, Boyd Klap said.

"Thanks to a wonderful husband who took me there and a low tide, Pāuatahanui was a bird photographer's dream this afternoon! Masses of kingfishers who were either sitting on bits of driftwood or logs, in between catching little crabs, a pile of shags who were in a very flappy mood and were constantly splashing about in the water, a pair of Caspian terns who didn't seem to be getting on too well, a blue heron who was getting annoyed by a seagull who was swooping over him. So much to see and photograph! It helped wearing some wellies so I could wade in to get some closer shots."

I walk beautifully on a lead but in saying that, I would need a home that can handle me as I can be strong when I want. I have had a fair amount of training from my previous home but there is always room for more growth. I am super smart and a lover of all yummy foods so will pick up new things very quickly.
I can be shy when meeting new people so I would love a quiet patient home that can read when I am not comfortable. A home with no children would be best for me. Welly is an unusual town. While in many ways it is very sophisticated, yet there are literally no bars here where people in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s can dance and mix and mingle with those of a similar age. Many yearn for the days when they could let loose at “Boogie Wonderland” and hang out at “Hummingbird”. However, wait no more. That that has changed.
I am from Miami, love to party and to throw parities. Every Friday, my meetup.com group, "40's, 50's, and 60's Get Off Your Ass and Have Fun" meet at a different bar with a great dance floor and will either have the entire bar to ourselves or a large portion of it. We will play the best of the ‘70’s, ‘80’s, and ‘90’s dance music. Even if you don’t dance though, you will have fun just grooving to the high energy from the others who are.
Both couples and singles are invited. However, ours is not a dating meetup. Its purpose is to provide comfortable venues where we can make new friends of both sexes and enjoy the company of our old friends.

I wanted to let you know about some fun, educational, interactive storytelling classes I will be running for kids. I am a performing arts teacher and in August will start to run ‘Physical Stories with Jo' for kids aged 4 to 7 years old.
In these weekly classes I will use a range of drama exercises, interactive yoga stories, songs, and reflection time to build on children's concentration, confidence and collaboration skills. Using stories that kids love like ‘Frozen’, ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ and ‘The Gruffalo’, I focuses on the messages behind these stories such as managing fear and being kind. Discovering what makes you special and knowing that your actions affect others. Being brave and able to stay calm using deep breathing to think clearly.
The sessions are designed to be great fun and purposeful. “I believe getting kids physically moving their bodies and thinking simultaneously is so beneficial”.
Classes will run from Island Bay School on a Monday at 3.30pm and from the Scouts Hall in Brooklyn on a Wednesday at 3.30pm.

Thirty thousand nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants across the country are striking on Wednesday today for better pay, more sick leave and safer work conditions.
They will walk off the job for eight hours from 11am until 7pm.
