Our Own Neighbourhood Watch

Beverley from Tawa

There is an older man who lives across the street from me and helps all the neighbours. He mows my lawns, pulls some of the worst weeds from my garden, and helps me get rid of my green waste. He collects the mail for neighbours who are away, takes bins to the top of the street and brings them back again, allows people to use his driveway when their own becomes crowded, baby-sits, collects children from daycare and school, lends his tools to others and generally is available whenever a neighbour is in need. You don't need to ask - he offers. He's a vital and indispensable part of our street community. I haven't named him because I know he would be embarrassed to be identified, but all my neighbours will know who he is.
