Linton Quarry
I had the pleasure of a visit to the local quarry a couple of days ago and was given a VIP tour. The quarry is owned and operated by Winstone Aggregates who are very happy for their neighbours to contact them with any questions. I had contacted them to see how loud the explosions were. A representative of the Red Bull Powder Co. even allowed me to detonate the explosives, which was awesome. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
