What do you think of Christchurch's stadium plan?

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from The Press

Christchurch's roofed 25,000-seat stadium could be ready within five years but the pressure is now on to get it planned and built right.

The city council's long-awaited investment case says a 25,000 seat mostly clear-roofed facility is the best fit for the city, and could be built within the budgeted $473 million, including running costs. Temporary seating was not included but could be added later.

The chosen option would cost $472.7m to build and $485.3m to run over 25 years, of which $343m would be funded by stadium income, with an annual $4.2m council top-up.

Coronavirus cases highly likely to arrive in NZ , health officials say as they seek extra quarantine powers

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from The Press

There is a high chance that the deadly coronavirus will make it to New Zealand, health officials say, but that doesn't mean you should panic.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley BloomfieldBloomfield said cases in New Zealand of the new outbreak, which has killed 56 people and infected thousands overseas, were likely.

Hospitals ICU units were already stepping up in preparation for the possibility of severely ill people with the virus. This was because while the virus was unlikely to kill anyone in New Zealand, figures out of China show about one-in-five people who were infected became severely ill.

Black Dog

Dianne from Cashmere

A big old black dog is often on the loose fouling Macmillan Ave, no owner in sight. Today it was on my property stalking our chooks. If it happens again, the dog will be impounded ... If you know who this dog belongs to, please advise its owner .. if you are the owner, you know what to do!

Dining in Top Class Five Star Restaurant in Christchurch Wanted!

Cherry from Heathcote Valley

We have family from Scotland visiting in March and would like to take them somewhere fabulous for dinner, with professional service and beautiful food in a formal setting. We eat out a lot but are disappointed a lot too!

Can anyone recommend somewhere like this within Christchurch? I’d be very grateful! Thanks Cherry
