With overseas tourists set to return to NZ shortly, we're looking at doing a light-hearted piece on the odd questions Kiwis have been asked about NZ. You may have seen the post doing the rounds on social media at the moment asking whether English is spoken here and suggesting NZ is a state of Australia (see below). New neighbour
Okay folks, if you feed your animals outside, you might want to rethink that. We have new nocturnal neighbours, inside Havelock North.
There is a very well fed brush tail possum up the pōhutukawa tree in my garden.
I don’t know where it’s come in from, but it’s in the middle of a residential neighbourhood, so keep an eye on your pet doors, open windows and doors and pet food.
I’ll be notifying council and DOC tomorrow.

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
