From 4 - 8pm in the Meeanee Hall we will have 40 stalls selling lovely, unique top quality items of every imaginable sort. You should be able to pick up all your Christmas presents in one happy, easy evening. The atmosphere will be lots of fun with live music and Santa for the kids - big and little. And for the rumbling tummies there's a sausage sizzle and hot pizza and treats from the kitchen - and the lovely Tania will have her coffee cart there with hot drinks so everything is covered. Come and support local and have fun doing it. Meeanee Hall 4 - 8pm this Saturday 17th November - see you all there.

Be aware, police have identified a new telephone scam targeting New Zealanders. If you receive an angry call from someone seeking compensation for car damages, hang up. To read more, click here.
What you need to know:
- The call will be from an international number that's then redirected through a local number.
- The aggressive scammer could be very convincing.
- Upon answering, they demand money for damages from a vehicle collision they claim you were involved in.
- Police are urging people to warn elderly relatives so they do not fall victim to the scam and lose money.
- If you receive a call of this nature, police advise you to hang up immediately.

Today I am thankful that we live in NZ during Peace Time.
Thank you to all those who served and sacrificed with their own lives or by being the ones who were to stay at home and farewell their husbands, sons, brothers, and friends.
Thank you to all those who continue to protect the innocent, who fight for injustice on every level and who bring peace wherever they can.
We don't have to go to fight in some horrid war to stand up for someone being mistreated - we don't have to leave our shores to fight for injustice or to bring peace to people.
If they did this for me and for my family, what can I do to respect what they did?
No greater love has someone that he should lay down his life for his brother/friend/stranger and in our case for people who are not even born yet.
Sincere thanks and today I choose to remember you and give thanks and say I am sorry that you had to suffer.

The photo of the crosses is from the Auckland Domain where there is a cross for every soldier who died in WWI. 18, 277 crosses are there to see. The second photo shows the section for the brothers from one family.
A special place for 2 brothers, then 3 brothers and then would you believe, families who lost 4 brothers.
I can not even begin to imagine.

The fighting ceased at 11am, but not before it claimed a toll of more than 18,000 New Zealanders’ lives, of 100,000 in total (or ten per cent of the population at the time) who served overseas including 425 soldiers from the Hastings district.
Today at 11am on 11 November, throughout Aotearoa New Zealand we will mark the centenary of the Armistice that ended the First World War in 1918 with a two minute silence of remembrance. This silence will be broken by a “Roaring Chorus” of joyful noise, echoing the celebrations of 100 years ago when people fill the streets in a spontaneous and jubilant celebration at news of the war’s end.
