Make the most of every chance
Here is a brilliant poem for the New Year
by Poet and Respected Celebrant Gwyn Davies:
JUST ANOTHER DAY.
The New year is upon us, a so-called special day,
My thoughts are somewhat different, and that’s just how they will stay.
For every day, is special, only you can make it so,
And the world can be your oyster as about your way you go.
The past has brought you to this point, mistakes along the way,
But to get to where you are now, it’s the price we had to pay.
Friends and loved ones gathered, some taken in their prime,
Would they waste a moment, if they were given extra time?
No! those no longer with us, not a moment would they waste,
And what price would they pay to have another taste,
A life that they have lost now, each precious moment gone,
So, remember to savour every moment, those left to carry on.
For life is no rehearsal, there is no second chance,
And when the music’s playing, get up and have a dance.
When you’re feeling fit and well, don’t walk there, try and skip,
And when the bank account is healthy, book another trip.
For life is such a journey, the routes for us to choose,
And unless you make it happen, you have so much to lose.
So, when you’re simply fed up, down or feeling low,
Only you can make it happen, as you will all well know.
So, grasp that chance your given, a moment not to waste,
So much there still awaits you, so much there still to taste.
Avoid the words “if Only” and make the most of every chance,
For we may not have a warning when it’s time for our last dance.
