Do you know an avid collector?
For antique trader Mehdi Sanssar it all began with a pair of brown leather Nikes his mum bought him at a store north of Paris in the late 1980s.
Sanssar, 39, is a self-confessed "sneaker freak".
The Frenchman, who has lived with wife Korreen and three kids in rural Hawke's Bay since 2009, still has a wardrobe jammed full, with about 70 boxes of sneakers, but it's a far cry from the 130 he owned at "peak fetish" about five years ago.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

New neighbour
Okay folks, if you feed your animals outside, you might want to rethink that. We have new nocturnal neighbours, inside Havelock North.
There is a very well fed brush tail possum up the pōhutukawa tree in my garden.
I don’t know where it’s come in from, but it’s in the middle of a residential neighbourhood, so keep an eye on your pet doors, open windows and doors and pet food.
I’ll be notifying council and DOC tomorrow.
