UPDATE: Tornado among severe thunderstorms

MetService has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Christchurch.

Thunderstorms this afternoon and evening are expected to bring heavy rain and hail to some places. There is also a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms developing, which could produce hail greater than 20mm in diameter. There have also been reports of a tornado.

Large hail can cause significant damage to crops, orchards, vines, glasshouses and vehicles, as well as make driving conditions hazardous.

This watch will be updated by 8:00pm this evening. Keep up to date here.

We are a small group of people around NZ that have been diagnosed with various eye conditions that have caused / are causing varying degrees of vision loss.

As a FB group - www.facebook.com... we are looking to set up regular catchups around the country with others over a coffee etc for the purpose of sharing experiences hints and tips and providing support.
In time, we also will be working towards offering advocacy, training and coaching to assist people to come to terms with their vision loss and develop a new way of living. If you have, or know if anyone who has vision loss, please join us.
