Within the group were plenty of guys who were big cricket fans however had never had a chance to attend a game before and they absolutely loved the chance to be a part of the crowd and to support their team….often very loudly!
One of the men staying in our emergency accommodation commented that his days are spent doing the same thing at the same places. Getting out and doing something different not only lifted his mood, he shared that ‘..it made him feel like a normal person in the community’.
Opportunity’s like this allow our whanau to have some fun and engage with their community in a positive way. A huge thank you to our supporters and Canterbury Cricket for your gift of the tickets and making this a reality.

Nearly at the end of the job and have run out of primer. I don't want to spend $150.00 on a 10 litre pail. Anyone got some leftovers at the back of the shed?

The Christchurch City Council is spending $900,000 on 119 lights to be placed in the Armstrong Lawn area adjacent to Rolleston Ave.
Some members of the public were concerned about the light pollution and the effect the lights would have on the ecosystem.
Council head of parks Andrew Rutledge said the lights had almost no UV spectrum, which reduced or eliminated insects' attraction to the light. The lights could also be dimmed and would not be on all night.

Painted glass bottles make a stylish display on their own or with the addition of dried foliage. The paint is on the inside so they still have that lovely glass sheen.

I have also made a range of Red Beech cutting boards. These are laminated using TITEBOND an English glue .USFDA approved for indirect food contact (cutting boards)T
I have also a supply of Red Beech that I purchased in the early 1990's from a demolition company in Ferry Rd.The timber was from a "dance hall in Lyttelton".This timber is finished to about 28mm so would have been from 1,1/2" and it was a "sprung" floor. We have tried to discover the origin of the hall and to date I have narrowed it down to a hall on Dublin St [East side] or the Harbour board Hall down on the Wharf area.I have made serving food platters from this flooring and used new and recycled handles at each edge. There is evidence of dancing on some boards and someone even left a cigarette burning on the floor!
These boards cost $2 per cm plus handles(these vary but less than $20)so a half metre grazing tray would be $120
