National Volunteer Week- Planting day at Halswell Quarry Park
Bring friends and family Saturday 22nd 10am-12, this event is hosted by the CCC and organised by an awesome group of Rangers on the Parks Team.
Dress for cool and wet conditions. Bring your favourite gardening gloves and gumboots. Some spades will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

When you arrive, enter the park from Kennedy’s Bush Road. Directions to the planting site will be posted at the Halswell Quarry Visitor Centre (the single-storey stone cottage).

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
