Abandoned Shopping Trolleys

Gary Neighbourly Lead from Northcote

Believe Christchurch is currently being classified as the "Shopping Trolley City of New Zealand". (a recent change for being known as the Garden City. This term has been prompted by the regular and ongoing displaying of abandoned Shopping trolleys right throughout Christchurch. Ironically this doesn't occur in Auckland as this community minded city introduced a By Law to prevent this many many years ago. (as the owners of these trolleys receive an instant $400 fine) The Christchurch City Council were requested to introduce this By Law many years ago but decided it wasn't at all important Very soon someone (including a child) may be seriously hurt (or a motor vehicle accident may happen if this continues.

Poll: Have you ever been bullied?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

People associate bullying with children in schools, but it can actually stretch beyond childhood to workplaces or neighbourhoods.

This Friday is Pink Shirt Day, which began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a new student was harassed for wearing pink. People across the globe are now encouraged to wear pink on this day to take a stand against bullying and promote inclusivity.

Have you or your whānau ever experienced bullying? Share your thoughts on Pink Shirt Day below.

Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.
