Our can collection initiative 'Cans for Good' with Wattie's is back for 2019 and we'd love you to get involved! The campaign will run for two weeks between Monday 5th and Friday 16th August and registration is open to all schools from kindergarten to high schools.

*What is Cans for Good?*
Cans for Good is an exciting national education and can collection campaign. Last year, Cans for Good was a huge success - more than 240 schools took part, collecting more than 70,000 cans to fill Salvation Army foodbanks.
The campaign brings together a charitable can collection drive and creative competition. It's supported by a set of teacher resources designed to engage children in fun, team-based learning experiences. The resources are available to download for free when you register online.

*Prizes*
As well as doing good in your community, having fun and learning, your school can also win some great prizes! Along with a competition for the best can creation, we have introduced a fun new campaign where your students can show or tell us how they think Wattie’s Spaghetti is made. We'll pick the most creative entry from each category: Kindergarten, Primary/Intermediate and Secondary School. The overall winner will receive a Wattie’s lunch shout for their school!

*Register today!*
Since the Watties partnership began in 1994, more than 1.4 million cans have been donated and this year through the support of New Zealand schools participating in Cans for Good we hope to achieve our target of 1.5 million cans!
Cans from each school will be given to the local Salvation Army or community foodbanks. These will help refill the shelves after the high winter demand period and enable schools around New Zealand to make a real difference to those in need in their community. To take part, register online by 31st July.

The controversial relocation of Christchurch's Citizens' War Memorial has received financial backing for a proposed move to Cranmer Square.

The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust (CEAT), set up to administer post-earthquake donations, has confirmed it will "support" the removal of the 82-year-old cenotaph, which has stood alongside Christ Church Cathedral since 1937, if resource consent is approved.

Moving the 300-tonne cenotaph is estimated to cost up to $1.5 million, but CEAT secretary Neil Cooper would not say how much the trust would cover "as we've not made this figure public yet".

Had to get in the passengers seat and manoeuvre myself across the gear stick, not very lady like. Again today asked the person parked to move across, I am average size the lines just seem narrow. Can get also get dinged in the doors when it’s so narrow. The designers need to think about the customers using these carpark areas before trying to just get the maximum amounts of cars into the smallest space. What have you found? The new Mitre 10 no problem seems much wider.

Hi everyone,

I have had this little guy/girl think a Male..
around for awhile on and off and now has decided to stay around, over the last 3 weeks.

It has think winter coat on now. a white tuff on the chest. Not a kitten.
Has short little legs (kinda like munchkin breed) abit shy but after a bit of coaxing and feeding I can now pat it. This cat just melts, purrs very affectionate. But weary.
Haven't been able to catch to put in cat cage to do a microchip scan at vet.

We cant rehome it should we fail to locate owners, 2 out 4 in family have allergies, pushing my luck with the 1 we have.

Really wanting to help this little cat, it's cold, lives in lean to, sneaks inside when our cat goes out and sleeps behind furniture,

Let me know if maybe someone out would like to give it him a new home, if owners are not located???
Listed on lost pets page facebook
Thanks.
