Hi Canterbury,

What's your opinion on dog-friendly businesses?

The number of dog friendly businesses in the Canterbury region are on the rise with over 30 cafes allowing dog owners to dine with their canines.

The decision is the business owner’s rather than council's, and the only requirement is dogs must be at least three metres away from the kitchen.

You can find the full list of dog-friendly businesses by clicking 'Read more'.

Share your thoughts (and other businesses we haven't listed) below and please write NFP if you don't want your comment featured in the Northern Outlook.

I'm certain I've seen something like this here in Aotearoa-NZ, but can't for the life of me recall where. It was in the back of the medicine cupboard. Let us know if you've seen, had - or have - one in your home.

Epidemiologist Dr Michael Baker said the next six months would be a “very dangerous” time for the country with a high risk of an outbreak while waiting for the vaccine roll-out in April.

Do you think scanning should be mandatory at pubs, nightclubs, etc?

Cars obstructing bin collection

Yet again someone has parked their car right in front of my green bin and stopped it being collected. I’m not even on a busy street, the least I ask is that my one bin is able to be collected each week. Thankfully the lovely truck driver stopped for me when he saw me sprinting down the road this evening. I’m making a sign for my bin asking people to not park in front of it, but please be aware that the collection trucks will not empty bins that have cars parked in front of them!
