Happy international volunteer day
Today is international volunteer day where we champion the impact volunteers have in communities, nationally and globally.The theme this year is ‘Volunteer for an Inclusive Future – E whai wāhi ai te katoa, kia tūao te tū’. Jenny is one of our FANTASTIC volunteers who works at our North Branch (Fendalton), helping members of the public know and understand their rights . She speaks Mandarin and Cantonese and is passionate abut making sure that language is not a barrier to accessing help . She also loves to sing and is part of the Canterbury Japanese Choir . They are holding a special 15th Anniversary Concert on Monday 9th December 2019. - why not pop along and see Jenny in action. Say goodbye to tyre waste
About 40% of the 6.5 million tyres Kiwis use every year are recycled, repurposed, or used as tyre-derived fuel. But the rest end up in landfills, stockpiled or dumped.
The good news is now there’s an easy solution to all that tyre waste. It’s called Tyrewise and is New Zealand’s first national tyre recycling scheme.
Tyrewise ensures that tyres in Aotearoa New Zealand are recycled or repurposed properly, saving millions from going to the landfill.
