Election 2020: Christchurch a sea of red as voters back Labour

Jake Kenny Reporter from Community News

Greater Christchurch has overwhelmingly voted red – giving Labour all but two of its electorate seats and the majority of the party vote.

Labour supporters at the party's election event in Christchurch on Saturday night were barely able to keep a lid on their excitement and glee at National’s astonishingly poor performance in the city – and their knives came out for their parliamentary colleagues in Blue.

“At last, Christchurch has woken up,” said Duncan Webb, Christchurch Central’s incumbent.

“It’s been a long campaign, exhausting, but the reward you get for that, it’s amazing.

Learn to Crochet (Basic's 101) Who's interested?

Lisa from Woolston

I am thinking of running a couple of classes in November possibly on a weekly basis. Class times 10am and an Evening Class 6.30pm or 7.00pm for those that work but would still like to learn.
This is a beginners class for people with very little or no experience in how to Crochet. If there is enough interest I will post updates. Cost $25 for 1.5 hours per session. Looking to go onto making Eco Dishcloths after the first Basic's 101. You will provide the Cotton/wool 8ply and hook 4 mm. If interested text me on 027 899 5000. I am a local small business Le Papillon NZ Limited Handmade Giftware, in Woolston. My name is Lisa. Message me your interest. I would like to keep classes to 6 per class. If there is a good amount of interest we can extend to days. Lets see where this might lead us.

Books Needed - Lyttelton Primary School Book Fair

Monica from Lyttelton

Lyttelton Primary School is now collecting books for its big Book Fair.

Are witches lurking in the lounge?
Historical characters in the bedroom?
Bill Bryson in the basement?
We would love them all!

Donation of all books (adult and children’s fiction/non-fiction) can be left at the school’s reception any time from now between the hours of 8.30am-4.00pm.

And remember to mark your diaries for Saturday 7 November: 9.00am-1.00pm.

All funds raised go towards Lyttelton Primary School’s library. That means hundreds of new books to spark and feed the minds of kids in our community.

Can’t wait to see you there!
